Head of Schools Message

We understand how important it is to establish a good routine for your child, setting them up for a successful and relaxed start to their day at nursery. Ensuring your child arrives on time not only supports their learning but also helps them feel settled and ready for the adventures of the day.

Our school gates close just before 8:45 am. We encourage you to bring your child in by 8:30 am, as this allows them to spend valuable time with their key person engaging in activities designed to strengthen fine motor skills. These foundational skills will aid them in navigating mark-making and writing as they grow.

To keep you informed, we will be sending out attendance letters as reminders of your child's current attendance status. Our goal is to provide support if needed, ensuring every child benefits from the full nursery experience.

Thank you for your dedication in helping your child start their day smoothly. Together, we are building a nurturing environment that champions their growth and independence.

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

For the last time this term Nursery Room will explore 'Lubna and Pebbles'; this week children will innovate (change/edit) the story to create their own story as they have previously explored the setting and the characters this week they will create the story either by changing the setting of the story or the character – we look forward to seeing the wonderful stories that they will create.

Nursery’s vocabulary this week will be 'shiny,' 'smooth' and 'beaming.'

Nursery will also use beaters as an emerging bridge between sound and phonics, they will listen to an instrument played with different beaters and identify which beater they believe is the correct beater with corresponding sound.

A sound rich environment is a crucial first step to phonics which will help your child identify and segment (separate) sounds within words.

Willow Room

Book & Rhyme of the week

Willow Room will start a new book this week, 'Dogs' by Emily Gravett.

The children will explore descriptive words such as, 'Stripy,' 'Scruffy' and 'Bald' as they look at different dogs from the text.

Gorgeous canines of every shape, size and colour are bounding through the irresistible book and we hope the children will be able to pick, from all that is on offer in this book, their favourite dog, it will be very tricky indeed.

The Nursery Rhyme for the week will be 'If You're Happy and You Know It.'

Success Story of the Week!

I'm delighted to share with you the wonderful progress our children have made as they have transitioned and settled in their new rooms within the Nursery.

Our dedicated staff have been using the Zones of Regulation, which have empowered the children to explore their emotional well-being.

They are learning to understand what action and strategies they can use when they are feeling happy, sad, frustrated, or excited.

Children who are already established in either Nursery or Willow rooms have explored other words associated with these feelings and learned different strategies to help them manage when they feel dysregulated.

Throughout the week, the children have enjoyed using our Zones of Regulation areas within their Key Person spaces. This exploration of feelings and the associated actions is helping them to navigate their emotions with increasing independence.

You should also have received a Zones of Regulation guide in your child’s book bag, if you haven’t please speak to your child’s key person.
