Head of School's Message

Dear Parents,

As we approach the half term break, we hope you all find some time to relax and enjoy quality moments with your children. It's a wonderful opportunity to unwind and create new memories together. Here are some budget-friendly ideas to keep your child entertained and engaged this week:

Nature Walks and Treasure Hunts: Enjoy the beauty of the outdoors with walks around your local parks or nature trails. Encourage your little ones to collect leaves, rocks, or any natural treasures they find interesting.

Homemade Crafts: Use everyday materials like cardboard, empty bottles, or scrap paper to create fun crafts. This not only entertains but enhances creativity and fine motor skills.

Story Time Adventures: Visit your local library and pick up a variety of books. Explore stories from different cultures or engage with beloved classics to instill a love of reading.

Cooking Together: Involve your child in preparing a simple meal or baking a cake. It's a lovely way to teach them basic cooking skills while enjoying time together.

Star Gazing: If the weather is nice, take a moment at night to observe the stars. You can use a simple phone app to help identify constellations—a perfect blend of nature and technology.

DIY Science Experiments: Simple experiments at home can be both educational and fascinating. There are plenty of resources online with easy instructions for age-appropriate science fun.

We hope these activities inspire you and help create lasting memories. Remember, it's the love, attention, and shared experience that count the most, and that's something any budget can afford.

Wishing you a restful, joy-filled half term break.

Half Term Break – Monday 17th February – Friday 21st February

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Nursery will begin the book 'Lost and Found' written by Oliver Jeffers. In this immersive week they will play lost and found games, help lonely animals find a friend, whilst also looking at penguins and where they live and their natural habitat.

For phonics this week children will be focusing on rhyme, finding matching words that rhyme and putting these into pairs, you could maybe try this activity during the half term break in preparation. The Key Words for this week relate to our text, they are 'lost,' 'found' and 'lonely.'

Success Story of the Week!

We are delighted to share the success of this week's cooking opportunities at the nursery!

The children in Willow Room had a wonderful time making and tasting delicious plum pie, which supported the text 'Each Peach Pear Plum' and made the test truly immersive for them.

Everyone participated in creating  and decorating Valentine's biscuits, which we hope you enjoyed at home.

We are excited to promote baking as a valuable enrichment to our curriculum and aim to offer many more baking opportunities for the children. These experiences not only nurture creativity and sensory exploration but also support early numeracy and fine motor skills.
