Head of School's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we finish yet another wonderful week at Oxhey, filled with special memories and new members of the team joining us, we wish a warm welcome to Holly in Nursery Room.

We have had wormeries arrive in Nursery and Willow Rooms to support our sustainability theme and we held the Mother's Day workshops with so many of you taking part - all with a bit of sunshine thrown in for good measure.

I wanted to take the time to let you know that we have some spaces available in our extended care, in particular tea club up to 5:30pm, with an evening  meal included.

Should you wish to get a few extra errands completed, finish that job in the house or just have a few hours for you, this service is available daily. Please speak to Wendy to book your child's slot.

Nursery Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Nursery Room will continue with their book 'Rain Before Rainbows' written by Smriti Halls and David Litchfield.

They will continue the imitation phase, deepening their understanding of the key words using a shortened version of the story.

The rhyme next week will link to our theme of sustainability and will be 'There's a Worm at the Bottom of my Garden'.

Having sung the rhyme last week, next week, the children will create actions to perform the poem to an audience.

The children’s keys words reflect their work on worms but will support their understanding of measures in maths - 'longest', 'shortest' and 'many.'

Willow Room

Book & Rhyme of the week

Willow will continue with their book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' written by Eric Carle.

Next week they will begin a stage called imitation; learning the story through role-play and props using a shortened version.

The rhyme next week will link to our theme of sustainability and will be 'There's a Worm at the Bottom of my Garden'.

Having listened and understood the rhyme last week, this week, the children will add actions to reflect the movement of worms.

The children’s keys words reflect their work on worms but will support their understanding of measures in maths - 'long', 'short' and 'the same.'

Home Learning

Each Wednesday, the packs will be found outside main reception. There is a display to show you which group’s turn it is and a signing out folder for each pack.

Please return all packs into the return’s basket so staff can check and stock up any resources.

Story Bags - Hedgehog & Dormouse

Maths Pack - Robin

Success Story of the Week!

It was really lovely to see so many of our female community at Oxhey this week for the MADGE workshops. We hope that you had a great time making crafts with your child that you will cherish for many years to come.

Workshops are such a fun event but they also offer the opportunity for you to have a special moment with your child one on one whilst also speaking with other members of the Oxhey Community. We hope you really enjoyed the session.

Feedback is always welcome, as we strive to create opportunities for you within our school, day to day.
